During recovering it is important to manage stress levels, that is why the Steps Together have a holistic approach to recovery which includes a range of therapies and treatments including, CBT, mindfulness, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.

April is stress awareness month and with the year that we have just had in light of the global pandemic stress levels may be more heightened.

WHAT IS STRESS?

Stress is a natural reaction to a traumatic event. This means that your nervous system will go into survival mode.  This is a biological response called “fight or flight” which causes the body to produce higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

This can affect several systems of your body, from mental to physical.
