Mental Health Awareness Week

What is Mental Health Awareness Week?

Mental Health Awareness Week is a week in the year dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of mental health and important it can be for your wellbeing. Mental Health Awareness Week has been run by the Mental Health Foundation since 2001 and their aim is to promote good mental health for all. The week can be at any point during the year and there are plenty of events and activities ongoing during the week to help raise awareness.

Why Is Mental Health Awareness Important

Despite being the cause of deaths and pain for millions of people in the U.K, the importance of looking after your mental health is still only beginning to be understood by most of the population. There are a lot of taboos and misinformation regarding mental health and it is causing confusion and restricting people from speaking their mind. Mental Health Awareness Week offers us a great platform for conversations to be started and to help more people understand the importance of maintaining good mental health.

Mental Health For Addiction Recovery

A person mental health is often the reason for them to go down the path of alcohol or drug addiction. Unfortunately, it is also the factor that created the biggest roadblock in their efforts to stop their addiction. This is why being able to treat and improve addicts mental health is one of the most important steps to recovery.

Alcohol and drug rehabilitation is not just about your physical body getting better from the effects of addiction, but your mental health improvements as well.  Improved mental health will provide the client with the energy and motivation to not only learn to resist their temptations but to stick with it as well.
